| Description : | Hydnum bambusinum Baker and Dale Type specimen (Holotype): [K] Trinidad: St. Joseph. 18.X.1949, Dennis no. 192. [!] Macromorphology (preserved, mihi): Sporophore: pileus up to 1.0 cm broad, plane to subdepressed, subpubescent to glabrous, smooth, olive pray (2F2) or olive (2F3), context not duplex, azonate, light blonde (4C3) to olive brown (4D4); taste none; odor slight or acid. Stipe up to 2.3 x 0.3 cm, central to subeccentric, terete to attenuate below, pubescent to glabrous, concolorous with pileus context not duplex, azonate dark blonde (5D4). Spines up to 1.5 mm long, not decurrent, crowded, dark blonde (5D4) to olive gray (2F2). Chemical reactions: preserved context dark blue green in KOH or NH4OH Micromorphology (preserved, mihi): Pileus trama hyphae up to 13.0 ,um diam., inflated, interwoven throughout context, clamped. Stipe hyphae up to 8.0 µm diam., inflated, interwoven throughout context, clamped. Spine trama hyphae up to 8.5 µm diam., clamped. Basidia: (n=20) 30.0-37.0 x 9.8-12.0 µm (X= 34.05 t 2.11 x 10.63 i 0.77 µm), clavate, clamped; sterigmata (n=10) (5.0) 6.0-7.4 um long (X= 6.69 " 0.80 um). Basidiospores: (n=20) 7.8-9.5 x 7.0-8.5 µm (X= 8.51 " 0.49 x 7.75 " 0.50 µm), subglobose, brownish; ornamentation tuberculate, prominent, flattened to exsculpate; hilar appendage oblique. | |
