Abstract:Entoloma ravinense, a new species of Entoloma subgenus Claudopus, section Claudopus, is described. The species differs from other white laterally attached (pleurotoid) species of Entoloma in its larger fruit bodies, close lamellae, and larger basidia, and has internal transcribed spacer (ITS) and nuclear ribosomal RNA large subunit (28S) sequences that differ from all those available for other species of the genus. Descriptions and illustrations of E. ravinense are presented and comparisons made with other pleurotoid taxa in the subgenus. A key to Australian species of pleurotoid entolomas is provided.
