Hur is characterized by partly pruinose, lobate to subsquamulose, olivaceous grey to brown thallus, small ascospores and narrowly bacilliform conidia. It belongs to the subfamily Caloplacoideae of the Teloschistaceae and includes the ‘Caloplaca’ amarkantakana clade.
