Abstract:Four new species of Boletus are fully described and illustrated from central Honshu, Japan: (1) Boletus panniformis sp. nov. (Section Calopodes) produces typically scabrous pileus, bitter flesh, a finely reticulate, red stipe, and has a habitat in subalpine, coniferous forests; (2) Boletus ventricosus sp. nov. (Section Appendiculati) forms a conspicuously bulbous stipe, orange-yellow, extremely short tubes, often moniliform, broadly clavate to doliform caulocystidia, and has a habitat in lowland, mixed forests; (3) Boletus cepaeodoratus sp. nov. (Section Appendiculati) possesses pinkish red pileus, a usually finely reticulate stipe, relatively short tubes, and a habitat in lowland, mixed forest; (4) Boletus viscidipellis sp. nov. (Section Luridi) yields a hairy, viscid pileus, intensely cyanescent flesh, and grows in a habitat in lowland, mixed forests;
