Description:Hydnellum coalitum Maas G., spec. nov.12 Fig. 18 (p. 46), Pl. 18 fig. b
Etymology: coalitus, grown together.
Basidiomata concrescentia. Pileus usque ad 40 nnn diam., e plano-convexo depressus, primo aequatus et crebre velutinus, postea subconfragosus et minute scruposus, azonatus haud radiatus, e pallide bubalino isabellinus vel subumbrinus, centro aetate asper pertususve atque fuligineus vel fusconiger. Stipes 18-30X6-10 mm, cylindraceus vel deorsum subincrassatus, ruderis obtectus, copiose molliterque velutinus, pallide testaceus. Aculei usque ad 3 mm longi, 0.1-0.2 mm lati,' decurrentes, conferti, subulati, postremo purpureo-brunnei. Caro in pilei centro usque ad 10 mm crassa, inconspicue duplex, pallide purpureo-brunnea, in stipite conspicue duplex. Hyphae 2.7-6.5 µm latae, haud inflatae, parietibus tenuibus vel modice incrassatis instructae, ramosae, septatae, fibulis carentes. Basidia 22-25 x 6.5-7 µm (immatura), clavata, efibulata. Sporae 5.4-6.3 x 3.8-4.5 µm, grosse tuberculatae (tubercula sat numerosa, prominentia, apicibus plus minusve applanatis), brunneolae (vidi siccum).
Holotypus: "France, Jura, entre Billiat et Lhopital sur la [route] N 491. Sous Pinus silvestris sur calcaire vers 500 m d'altitude. 28 octobre 1969. V. Demoulin" (LG 106); isotypus in L.
