Description:T. PHYLACTERIS (Bourd. et Galz.) Corner - Fig. 8 j.
Resupinate, thickly encrusting, 1-1.5 mm. thick, fuscous purple; margin white, without erect branches or spicular processes.
On the ground, encrusting leaves, twigs, and coniferous needles; Europe (France, Sweden, Gt. Britain).
Spores (9-)10-14 x 7-10 µm, fuscous chocolate, not or very slightly angled, not lobate, closely echinulate with spines 1-2 µm long. Hymenium thickening; cystidia none. Hyphae 2-7 µm wide, without clamps, the walls thickened 0.5-0.7 µm and brownish in the lower part of the tissue, longitudinal and compact in the basal layer. Hymenium slightly cyanescent in KOH or not at all; trama not cyanescent.
This resupinate species is easily recognised from the absence of clamps and the non-lobate, large spores with strong spines.
