Description:Pileus 15-50 mm., e convexo expansus interdum postremo depressus, vulgo umbonatus (umbone vulgo parvo ottuso), fuscus vel colore cornus tinctus ad discum obscurioire brunneus, siccitate leviter pallidioire coloratus, primo lotus fibrillis sericeis minutis obtectus, et ad discum fere tomentosus dein senectute vel jove pluvio glabrescens, jove sicco manifeste sericeo-canus. Lamellae adnatae plus minus emarginatae, primo pallido-griseae vel colore cornus tinctae dein sordide- vel brunneo-incarnatae, subdistantes., L 22-30, l 1-3, ad aciem distincte obscuriore brunneo-flocculosae. Stipes 25-54/2-6 mm, aequalis interdum supra vel infra incrassatus vel ad basim clavato-incrassatus, pileo concoloratus vel supra pallidioire coloratus, ad basim albusvel pallido-cremeus, sericeo-fibrilloso striatus vel interdum corneo-lineatus, e farcto cavus. Caro pilei obscure brunnea stipitis alba vel albi da in corticem colore cornus tincta. Odor farinaceus, sectus magis olet. Sapor farinaceus. Sporae ellipsoideo-oblongae angulatae, 9-12(-13) x 6.5-8 µm. Basidia 4­sporigera, 38-46/10-12 µm Cystidia aciei lamellarum fusiforme-clavata vel lageniformia vulgo cervice aut breve aut longa, ad apicem interdum capitata, vulgo inclusione brunneola, 36-72/10-25 µm ad apicem 3-5 µ vel ubi capitata 6-8(-10) µ lata. Hyphae cuticulae pilei 6-16 µm latae non incrustato-pigmentatae vel 2-10 µ latae incrustato-pigmentatae. Inter Sphagnos vel in locis turfosis: Tomich, Inverness­shire, 18 Serto 1958 (inter Sphagnos; typus in Herb. Kew,), 24 Sept. 1958 (in ericetis); West Sandvik, Yell, Shetlands, 3 Sept. 1952 (ad solum turfosum, legit R. W. G. Dennis); Holt Lowed, Norfolk, 5 Oct. 1958 (inter Sphagnos, legit J. T. Palmer). E. helodete proxime accedit, sed a pileo sericeo-fibrilloso acie lamellarum obscuriore marginata differt. E. jubatum ad absentia odoris farinae, sporis minoribus et lamellis non obscurioire marginatis differt.
