Pseudothecia grouped in isolated pustules, rarely single, immersed in a loose mycelial stroma composed of a more or less uniformly thickened wall of pseudoparenchymatic cells. Asci cylindrical to slightly clavate, stalked, 8 spored. Ascospores brown, uni- or biseriate, commonly transversely 3 septate, slightly constricted at the septum.
