Description:Ascomata scattered to gregarious, capitate, stipitate; stipe cylindrical, black, smooth to furfuraceous. Ascigerous portion capitate, club-shaped to pileate, indistinguishable from stipe. Hymenium surface black, continues with stipe at early development stage. Asci clavate, inoperculate, thin-walled, J+, usually 8-spored. Ascospores elongate, dark-brown, blackish to hyaline, septate when matured. Paraphyses filiform, blackish to hyaline. Global distribution, terrestrial, habitat usually boggy and mossy.
