Remarks (public):Entoloma resutum is a distinctive species because of its dark, fibrillose-subsquamulose pileus and glabrous, polished stipe. E. plebeioides differs in having a darker, strongly fibrillose-striate stipe, and in lacking a distinct smell and taste.
