Description:Muscinupta laevis (Fr.) Redhead, Lücking & Lawrey, Mycol. Res. 113(10): 1167, 2009.
Bas.: Cantharellus laevis Fr., Syst. mycol. (Lundae) 1: 324, 1821. Syn.: Cyphellostereum laeve (Fr.) D.A. Reid, Beih. Nova Hedwigia 18: 337, 1965.
Basidiome pileate, flabelliform to spatulate, 0.5-1 cm in diam, with a short or inconspicuous stipe, abhymenial surface whitish, convex or flat, hymenophore smooth, whitish. Hyphal system monomitic, hyphae with simple-septa, thin-walled, 2-3 µm wide, not encrusted. Cystidia cylindrical with a wide base and a subcapitate to round apex, 30-50 x 6-7 µm, thin-walled, not encrusted, projecting 20-25 µm. Basidia clavate, 15-20 x 5-6 µm, with 4-sterigmata and with a simple basal septum. Basidiospores ellipsoid, 3-4 x 2-2.5 µm, smooth, thin-walled, IKI-.
Distribution in Europe: Poland, France, Germany, Czech Republic, Belgium, United Kingdom, Netherlands, Sweden, Italy, Norway, Finland, and Ukraine. Very rare species in Italy, recorded from Piemonte and Trentino Alto-Adige.
