Description:Primary thallus persistent, consisting of squamules 2-3 mm long, 0.5-2 mm wide, flat or recurved, brown to dark green, shiny above, white to lilac, somewhat cottony below. Podetia 0.5-2 cm tall, 0.5-1 mm thick, erect to curved, subulate, unbranched or sparsely branched, brown to whitish, sterile tips acuminate, fertile obtuse. Podetial surface esorediate, densely phyllidiate, phyllidia downturned, 0.1 mm long, bullate or attached as plates, easily shedding off from distal parts, leaving white medulla bare. Podetial wall thick, cortex absent or transformed into phyllidia, medulla thin, stereome thick, hard, central canal narrow. Conidiomata at tips of podetia, ovoid, black, not seen in maturity. Hymenial discs probably brown, not seen in maturity. Chemistry: fumarprotocetraric, tr. protocetraric acids. Reactions: P+ red, K-, KC-.
