Description:Sistotrema confluens Pers., Neues Mag. Bot. 1: 108, 1794.
Basidiome at first resupinate, then pileate, flabellate, 2-4 cm wide, with a small stipe up to 2 cm long, pilei concrescent, sterile upper surface smooth or finelly tomentose, whitish to cream, darkening when bruised, hymenophore reticulate to irpicoid, with small spines up to 2 mm long, soft smell of vanilla. Hyphal system monomitic, hyphae with clamps, thin-walled, 2-3 µm wide, with many oil drops. Cystidia absent. Basidia urniform, 15-20 x 4-6 µm, thin-walled, with 6-8-sterigmata and a basal clamp. Basidiospores narrowly ellipsoid to suballantoid, 4.5-6 x 2-2.5 µm, smooth, thin-walled, IKI-.
Distribution in Europe: Estonia, France, Belarus, Germany, Poland, Hungary, Croatia, Slovenia, Serbia, United Kingdom, Belgium, Slovenia, Romania, Bulgaria, Sweden, Italy, Denmark, Norway, Finland, and Spain. Recorded from Piemonte, Trentino Alto-Adige, Emilia-Romagna, Sicilia, and Sardegna.
Substrata: it occurs on the ground, in mixed forests.
