Description:Trechispora nivea (Pers.) K.H. Larss., Symb. bot. upsal. 30(3): 110, 1995.
Bas.: Odontia nivea Pers., Neues Mag. Bot. 1: 110, 1794. Syn.: Hydnum hypoleucum Berk. & Broome, J. Linn. Soc., Bot. 14(2): 60, 1875.
Basidiome resupinate, effused, loosely adnate, fragile, hymenophore odontioid with cylindrical aculei, up to 1 mm long, white to pale ochraceous, margin concolorous, thinning out, fimbriate. Hyphal system monomitic, hyphae with clamps, thin-walled, 1.5-3 µm wide, with some ampullaceous septa, encrusted with granular crystals. Cystidia absent. Basidia subclavate to cylindrical, 10-15 x 4-5 µm, somewhat slightly constricted, with 4-sterigmata, and a basal clamp. Basidiospores broadly ellipsoid to subglobose with a slight curved apiculus, 3.5-4 x 2.5-3 µm, verrucose, thin-walled, IKI-.
Distribution in Europe: Germany, Russia, Estonia, Czech Republic, United Kingdom, Belgium, Italy, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Switzerland, Finland, Austria, Spain, Czech Republic, France, Germany(?), Poland, Estonia, Romania, and the Caucasus. Widely distributed species in Europe and recorded from Veneto, Lazio and Toscana in Italy.
Substrata: on Populus,Quercus suber and Pinus.
