Description:Basidiocarps perennial, effused-reflexed to pileate, solitary, without odor or taste and hard corky to woody hard when fresh, woody hard and light in weight when dry. Pileus triangular in longitudinal section, projecting up to 2 cm, 6 cm wide and 2 cm thick at centre. Pileal surface light grey, minutely velutinate to glabrous, indistinctly crustose, becoming cracked with age; margin obtuse. Pore surface greyish brown, slightly glancing; margin narrow, cinnamon to yellowish brown, up to 1.5 mm wide; pores circular to sinuous, 6–9 per mm; dissepiments distinctly thick (the thickness almost as the diameter of pores), entire. Context dark brown to fuscous, woody hard, up to 7 mm thick. Tubes cinnamon, woody hard, up to 1.3 cm long, tube layers stratified; white mycelial strands frequently present in old tubes. Hyphal system dimitic; generative hyphae simple septate; tissue darkening in KOH. Context. Generative hyphae hyaline to pale yellowish, thin- to slightly thick-walled, rarely branched, frequently septate, 2–3 μm in diam; skeletal hyphae dominant, rust-brown, thick-walled with a wide to narrow lumen, unbranched, occasionally septate, straight, loosely interwoven, 2.5–4.5 μm in diam. Hymenophoral trama. Generative hyphae hyaline to pale yellowish, thin- to slightly thick-walled, frequently branched, frequently septate, 2–3 μm in diam; skeletal hyphae dominant, rust-brown, thick-walled with a narrow lumen, unbranched, occasionally septate, straight, parallel along the tube, 2–3.5 μm in diam. Hymenium. Setae infrequent, subulate, dark brown, thick-walled, 13–20 × 4–6 μm. Cystidioles absent. Basidia barrel-shaped, with four sterigmata, 8–10 × 5–6.5 μm; basidioles in shape similar to basidia. Basidiospores broadly ellipsoidal, hyaline, slightly thick-walled, smooth, IKI–, moderately CB+, (3.5–)4–5 × 3–4(–4.5) µm, L = 4.3 µm, W = 3.47 µm, Q = 1.22–1.25 (n = 60/2).
