Description:Basidiomata small. Pileus 6–17 mm diam., initially somewhat paraboloid or conico-convex, becoming hemispherical to convex with a small umbo at maturity; surface initially yellowish brown (5D5) at the centre and on the fibrils, gradually fading to brownish orange (5C3) towards the margin, becoming golden brown (5D7) at the centre and on the fibrils, gradually fading to light brown (5D4) towards the margin, dry, appressed-fibrillose all over, appressed- to slightly recurved fibrillose around the centre; margin incurved when young, becoming slightly decurved, entire or somewhat eroded, finely fissile. Lamellae adnexed, narrow, crowded, initially greyish orange (6B3), becoming brown (6E8) at maturity, up to 1.5 mm wide, with lamellulae of 3 lengths; edge fimbriate, concolourous with the sides. Stipe 19–32 × 1–3 mm, central, terete, equal, fibrous, solid when young, becoming fistulose; surface brown (6D6), with dense, greyish orange (6B3), woolly tufts or pruinae (easy to remove on handling) as well as fibrillose all over; base distinctly marginate-bulbous, whitish. Context soft, up to 2 mm wide, greyish yellow (4B3). Odour and taste not distinctive.
Basidiospores 6–7 × 4–6.5 (6.7±0.5 × 5.0±0.5) µm, Q = 1.1–1.8, Qm = 1.3, nodulose to somewhat angular, with 4–5 nodules up to 1.5 µm long in profile, slightly thick-walled, pale yellow. Basidia 21–32 × 5–7 µm, narrowly clavate, thin-walled, hyaline, at times deformed and filled with a pale yellowish brown pigment (necrobasidia), 4-spored; sterigmata up to 4 µm long. Pleurocystidia frequent, metuloidal, 37–50 × 14–22 µm, bottle-shaped or obclavate often with crystalloid deposits at the apex, with a pale yellowish brown wall pigment, thick-walled towards the apex (up to 4 µm thick). Lamella-edge sterile or rarely heterogeneous with cheilocystidia mixed with clusters of paracystidia. Cheilocystidia metuloidal, 43–66 × 15–28 µm, obclavate, apices with crystalloid deposits, thick-walled towards the apex (up to 6 µm thick), with a pale yellowish brown wall pigment. Paracystidia 12–20 × 7–13 µm, clavate or inflated clavate, rarely septate, thin- to slightly thick-walled (up to 1 µm thick), hyaline. Lamellar trama subregular; hyphae 2–14 µm wide, thin-walled, with a pale yellow wall pigment and faint, hyaline encrustations. Subhymenium pseudoparenchymatous. Pileus trama subregular; hyphae 4–26 µm wide, with a pale yellow wall pigment, thin-walled. Pileipellis a cutis often disrupted by patches of flaring-out hyphae; hyphae 3–18 µm wide, slightly thick-walled, with a pale golden brown wall pigment and yellowish brown spiral encrustations. Stipitipellis a cutis frequently disrupted by isolated or small groups of caulocystidia intermixed with bunches of cauloparacystidia over the entire length of the stipe; hyphae 3–13 µm wide, thin- to slightly thick-walled, with a pale yellow wall pigment and faint, pale yellow spiral encrusting pigment. Caulocystidia metuloidal, 41–59 × 16–30 µm, lageniform, broadly lageniform or bottle-shaped, with crystalliferous apices, thick-walled towards the apex (up to 6 µm thick), with a pale yellowish brown wall pigment. Cauloparacystidia 11–32 × 4–20 µm, clavate, inflated clavate or rarely utriform with a median constriction, slightly thick-walled (up to 0.5 µm thick), hyaline. Clamp connections observed on all hyphae.
