Description:Mycelium amphigenous, also on stems, thin, forming white patches of different shape and size or effuse, evanescent to persistent; hyphae straight to sinuous, branched, thin-walled, smooth, hyaline, 3–9 µm wide; hyphal appressoria poorly developed to nipple-shaped, solitary, 3–8 µm diam.; conidiophores solitary, arising from the upper surface of hyphal mother cells or lateral, in the middle of the mother cell or usually somewhat towards one end of the cell, 80–230(–290) µm long (without conidia); foot-cells straight or curved at the base or even curved to sinuous throughout, cylindrical or subcylindrical, usually (30–)40–100(–140) × 9–15 µm [in examined collections on Kalanchoe about (10–)35–190(–210) µm long], followed by 1–3(–4) shorter cells, 10–30 µm long, basal septum at the junction with the supporting hypha or only slightly elevated, 3–10 µm, usually not constricted at the basal septum, occasionally slightly constricted; conidia in chains, catenescent, spore units of the chains only slightly to moderately swollen, conidia ellipsoid-ovoid, doliiform-subcylindrical, (20–)25–35(–38) × 12–18(–20) µm (dried conidia), up to 49.5 × 22 µm when fresh and turgescent, length/width ratio 1.3–2.3(–3.6); conidial germination belonging to the Euoidium type. Chasmothecia (formed on Cichorium and Lactuca spp.) amphigenous, scattered to ± gregarious, partly immersed in the mycelium, 75–160 µm diam., usually 80–130 µm, subglobose to depressed globose; peridium cells rounded, irregular to daedaleoid, 10–25(–30) µm diam.; appendages numerous, arising from the lower half, equatorial and occasionally in the upper half, mycelioid, simple, rarely branched, interwoven with each other and with the mycelium, 0.25–4 times as long as the chasmothecial diam., usually 0.5–2 times,  uniformly 3–11 µm wide, occasionally wider at the very base, continuous or septate (usually with 1–6 septa), distance between septa, 20–60 µm, wall thin, to 1 µm, smooth or almost so, short appendages pale brown to medium dark brown throughout, longer appendages paler towards the apex; asci 5–25, broad ellipsoid-ovoid, saccate, subclavate, apex rounded to truncate, often with numerous oil drops when immature, 40–75 × 20–40 µm, subsessile to short-stalked, sometimes stalk somewhat elongated, wall thin, to 1 µm, terminal oculus inconspicuous, about 10–13 µm diam., 2-spored, very rarely with 1 or 3 spores; ascospores ellipsoid-ovoid, 16–30 × 10–20 µm, length/width ratio 1.3–2.4, colorless.
