	MycoBank introduces a new registration system for type specimen or strains associated with existing taxa. Registered users, after login in MycoBank, can deposit data associated with Type specimens. Holotypes, Epitypes, Neotypes, Lectotypes and Iconotypes data can be deposited at http://www.mycobank.org/biolomicstypification.aspx. Directly after registration, data will be released and visible on the web. Depositors will receive an email confirming their new type deposit as well as a unique MycoBank Type number starting with MBT (e.g. MBT174983).

	Release your names online by Webmaster (News MycoBank) 25/03/2013 13:00:09
	A new version of the MycoBank website has been published on the 25th of March 2013 and it's now possible to release newly published taxa online. The depositor no longer needs to request our curators to implement changes in the database. To access this new feature, from the main menu, select Tools -> Release names or go to Http://www.mycobank.org/BioloMICSReleaseName.aspx and login. Add the missing information and click on the Release name button. Depositors willing to update their records prior to publication can do it by loging in and searching the name to be updated, then going to the bottom of the description page of the name to be updated and clicking on the Update your name.

MycoBank is now multilingual and already allows English, French, Chinese, Arabic and German speaking users to get access to the system in their own languages. Ducth, Portuguese and Spanish are now available as well.

	A new field has been added to the MycoBank taxa descriptions. It summarize the information of the displayed taxon name and can easily be copied to the clipboard. It looks like: Acanthorhynchus vaccinii Shear, Bulletin of the Torrey Botanical Club, 34:313, 1907 [MB#233277].

	A new version of the MycoBank website has been published on the 11th of November 2012. The following sectionshave been improved: 1. deposit of new taxa has been improved and a number of bugs removed 2. the structure of the database was heavily simplified to allow easier curation of the database 3. online release of preliminary deposited taxa by the original depositor is under final testing and should be available on the 15th of November 4. typification of existing taxa is under testing

	The new MycoBank discussion forum has been launched today (August 14th 2012). It will allow MycoBank users to discuss fungal taxonomy issues or any related matters. One can access it by clicking on the Forum menu The system is organized in Groups of discussion that contain Topics. People can react on Topics by posting text messages called Posts. Any registered user can vote in favor of or against Topics or Posts. Discussions (Topics or Posts) can be created or added by any registered MycoBank user. Groups of discussion can only be initiated by MycoBank curators but anyone can certainly contact us to suggest new discussion Groups. To follow some Topics or Posts, one can either come back to the website on a regular basis or subscribe to one or several Topics or Posts of interest and be warned by email when a new Post is deposited. For the moment, we’ve only created four discussion Groups related to the “one fungus which name” (1F=?N) problematic since this is the “hot topic” in systematic mycology at the moment. The yeasts community has launched a number of Topics dealing with the choice of the anamorphic and teleomorphic genera.

	MycoBank is owned by the International Mycological Association (IMA). It is curated by a number of mycologists mainly specialized in nomenclature. Since current curators cannot know and understand the classification of all fungal clades, it is important to welcome new specialists to help with the curation of MycoBank. Spanish, German, Arabic and Russian will be launched in the coming weeks. More languages such as Japanese (for example) can be easily implemented if volunteers are interested to help with translations.
